What is the Goal of the Technological Tools?

Running a study abroad office well requires a large amount of administrative effort, including:

  • Making program listings available to students online
  • Scheduling appointments and answering questions
  • Tracking which students attend which programs and what their emergency contact information is
  • Being aware of current outstanding alerts regarding countries in which your students are travelling.

At Global Learning Semesters, we initially developed our own software technology in order to manage many of these items for ourselves after we were not able to find a solution truly customizable for the complex programs that we operate.

Based on our internal systems, we developed a patent-pending software tool based on our internal technological systems that vastly simplifies the process of running the IT side of a study abroad office.

This tool will require no IT support from your IT department and will be customizable for your university with an easy to use administrative process.

We believe strongly in openness and choice in study abroad, so this program can be used to administer any provider's programs, including in-house programs.   All important data regarding countries and program options will be centrally updated so that you do not have to spend valuable time doing so.

Who Should Consider Using These Tools?

Any study abroad office that does not have significant funds to invest in software development or maintenance or that is currently overburdened with administrative work could benefit from this program.

To the best of our knowledge, there are very few software options currently available that are affordable for a smaller institution which is why we initially developed our software in-house.   Some solutions can cost  up to $40,000 per year to license and maintain.

There is no cost associated with this software for HGA affiliates.
