Training Seminars
What is the Goal of the Training Seminars?
The training seminars are primarily oriented toward providing coverage of current best practices in study abroad administration in terms of administering, promoting and supporting study abroad participation. The material for this training is sufficiently general that it should address the needs of most institutions.
After conducting a pilot project during the Summer of 2006 with some HACU institutions, we have revised our material to address in more detail some of the issues that HACU institutions face.
Who Should Attend The Training
We think there are multiple types of staff that could benefit from this training, but the primary audience is:
1. Study Abroad directors at smaller institutions who have not had the time to previously go through formal training, such as the NAFSA Academy
2. Junior staff at larger institutions who are early in their careers
3. Staff at any institution who is focused on increasing Hispanic participation in study abroad
The training will delivered in a variety of in-person and online seminars. We anticipate conducting the training in phases, with the first training being in the Spring of 2007. The exact training schedule will be finalized once the final participant list is complete.
How do I Join?
To participate in a training seminar in Spring 2007, please complete the Join the HGA form by December 1, 2006.
For more information about participating in training, please contact Capacity@HispanicGlobalAlliance.org to learn more.
There is no cost associated with the training seminars though if you attend an in-person seminar you will be responsible for your travel costs.
